Shared documents and shared lives

Hi folks,

Our next mission is to write a collaborative movie review with our peers. Me and my friend Gülce decided we wanted to do this task together because our favorite movie is the same, Isle of Dogs. It is one of the best movies I've ever watched, it has so many subplots and side characters you have no choice but to find yourself in one of them.  Isle of Dogs is more than an animation, you can see the main characters' pain in their eyes and I think that is hard for stop-motion movies because it is always easier to look into real human eyes and find yourself there. So reviewing this movie was emotional at times too but I like to believe we did a really impressive job. Check the review out now!

First, we opened a shared document on the Google Documents app, we decided to try it while we were away before using it for our task and it is safe to say you can have daily conversations on the Google Docs app. There were four different aspects we needed to criticize, we both took two paragraphs each and started working, and we even listened to the same songs while we worked. I've learned one of the most useful things about a shared document is how you can track your partner's progress. The other one is immediate error correction if it wasn't for a shared document there would be a lot of fixing the grammar and finding every detail on the internet. I think this app can help students with their group projects, at the beginning of this semester me and my friends did a research project but we used a different app to complete our writing progress, nobody could see what their group mates did and we constantly sent pdfs back and forth, while using the Google Documents I constantly thought about how easier it would have been if only we knew.

I hope reading this blog post helps you not to make the mistakes I did, and that you use a shared document for your next collaborative writing assignment. While you are here check out our review for Isle of Dogs too. Have a good one, and see you in the next off-the-record knowledge post ;).

Here are some comments we got from our peers/classmates!
