Whats and Whys of an Infographic

Today I am writing about a new and completely different topic, so many first times in this blog. My task for today is to make an infographic. An infographic is a visual aid to present informations and datas. I needed to mention my points briefly. Being a person who needs pages of writing to explain myself, it was challenging. I choose a vibrant and engaging design so people would care to take a look at it.

As my topic for this content I chose plagiarism. It includes definition, forms, and examples of the topic.  I think we as ELT students need to talk and educate ourselves more about this topic.

I used Canva's tools for my design. I started using Canva in my second year of university and I couldn't be more thankful for an app. Everything works so smoothly and I didn't even need to watch a YouTube video to understand the app's tools. My one challenge was, as I said before, shortening my writings. I wanted to say so many things, but it would be so tiring to look at a infographic where there are more sentences than images, I know I wouldn't want that as a reader.

As we are on the topic, I think infographics are great way to start learning about a topic. You aren't going to find all the information that you need, of course, but there is going to be enough information to get your attention, and reading more about it is up to you! Using infographics in a classroom setting can be so useful; since now it's harder to catch students' attention, a vibrant and more visual poster is a great way to a start. I believe I will use infographics in my future classes, not only because it is an engaging way to teach, but also they are so entertaining to prepare!

Hope to see you in my other firsts, thank you for sticking around.

Here is my very own infographic:
