Making Your Voice Heard: Podcasts
Since the day I learned the concept of podcasts I wanted to create one myself and for my new task, I did! My friend Gülce (you can check out her blog here) and I recorded a podcast using Podomatic, our experience with the website was so smooth. First, we created an account, the website tested the background voices and our voice to see if the setting was complete. The only problem we faced with this website was some of the sound effects were too long and we couldn't adjust the length. We recorded it two times, the first time just to test it and see how our story came along with the sound effects and the second and final one.
I have always liked writing, it could be about anything or in any genre doesn't matter to me. But this was my first time writing with someone. Gülce and I met in our first year of university and I feel like our personalities complement each other so well. I think this shows in our story too, you don't feel like the story came out of two people, it has an amazing flow and even though it is a short story it gives the same vibes as your favorite book. It follows Gerald the freak as he wakes up from his sleep to a very unusual situation, it follows his emotions through this event and even gives us a little bit of his backstory. I'm very proud of our script as you can understand. I had so much fun and never in one second did we have to stop and think about our next step. Words poured out from us. Listen to our podcast here and tell me what you think about the story of poor Gerald in the comments.
Before doing this assignment I thought I'd never give this task to my students but after completing it myself I can confidently say I would. It challenges you to write, pronounce and learn different things. It is everything you can ask for from an assignment. If it's teamwork it is even better. And these types of assignments are so important for students to get involved with the new technology.
See you guys next week, maybe with a new podcast episode because I think I am addicted.
